What is the SEAG?

The Schools’ Entrance Assessment Group (SEAG) was formed to set a single post-primary transfer test for 2023 onwards, replacing the two separate tests run by the AQE & PPTC up to 2022.

What about the AQE and the GL tests?

The final AQE and GL tests were sat in November/ December 2022.
The SEAG’s Entrance Assessment has replaced the old system of two separate tests run by the AQE & the PPTC (GL).

How much will it cost for a child to sit the assessment?

It will cost £20 per pupil, or it will be free for pupils who can claim Free School Meals.

How do I register my child for the test?

When registration opens, parents will be able to register online through an easy to access area of the SEAG’s website.

Will children be able to sit the SEAG’s Entrance Assessment in Irish?

Yes. Both English and Gaeilge versions of the Assessment will be available.
