2020 AQE & GL Practice Papers
The 2020 Version of our practice papers follows the full specification which was used prior to the November 2021 tests.
The 2021 Version of our practice papers follows the amended (reduced) specification which was used for the November 2021 tests.
The maths topics omitted from the 2021 versions are listed below as well as the format changes for the GL English papers.
Until the AQE and the PPTC (GL) announce their format & specifications for the November 2022 tests we recommend purchasing the 2020 versions in case they revert back to the full specification.
2021 AQE Practice Papers
The 2021 versions of AQE Practice Papers 1-12 include 100 new English questions and over 200 new maths questions which are not on the 2020 versions.
The following maths topics are not on the 2021 version of our AQE Practice Papers.
- Percentages
- Triangular numbers
- The use of a letter to stand for an unknown number
- The interpretation of a calculator display in relation to money
- Multiplication beyond a 3-digit number multiplied by a 2-digit number
- Division beyond a 3-digit number divided by a single digit
- Negative numbers
- Calculating the area of a non-right-angled triangle
- The continuous nature of measurement & the need for appropriate accuracy
- The use of scale in simple maps and diagrams
- Calculations related to timetables involving the 24-hour clock
- Reflecting a shape in a diagonal line

- Name and describe circles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons
- Pie charts
- Mean and range
- Probability and likelihood
2021 GL English Practice Papers
The 2021 versions of GL English Papers 1-12 include 250 new questions which are not on the 2020 versions. The majority of these are the 12 new poems, each with 16 questions.
